mtngirlsouth is a "woman of God" who truly "thinks for herself". No no she has not been pre-programmed by her religion as most people say. Her idea's are TRULY "original". She is definitely not just parakeeting her idea's from her church. She has a masters degree in critical thinking skills. In her latest "original" idea she has really proven herself to be a pioneer in individualistic original creative thinking brilliance:

agreed, that's a pretty dumb stance to have... especially for someone who is claiming to uphold the sanctity of marriage. i highly doubt the Christian god would want so many marriages in which children would never be born.

She and I may have our differences, but people are entitled to different views. I do not agree with your characterization of her intelligence, as I think she is quite intelligent and has gone to great lengths to learn other perspectives, which is more than can be said for most people on this site. I say that while utterly disagreeing with her on this issue, and absolutely disagreeing with the statement you quoted, if it is an accurate representation.
I can easily think of substantive arguments that would counter the point and actually might be persuasive. Calling somebody stupid is just nasty and doesn't accomplish anything.
She's not the first person I've seen make that argument and it always makes me wonder if it actually makes sense to them when they say it out loud. Why would anyone want to marry someone they neither love nor are sexually attracted to? That question seems to be popular with the fundies, who regard it as sort of a 'slam dunk' against gay marriage, but instead of silencing dissent, it leaves the door wide open for further questions.
Should a lesbian marry a man/gay guy marry a woman then live celibately?
If you wouldn't want to live in a loveless, sexless marriage, why do you demand that someone else do it?
