83 years old and guess what he has been doing for the last month??? Chopping and stacking wood in the hot sun for 12 hours per day. With his money he could be sitting on a beach someplace on a tropical island drinking one of those drinks with a tiny umbrella in it. He has worked 12-16 hour days for his entire life nonstop. Started out broke without a dime and stated his business and ran it for 45 years and still outworked everyone of his employees.
Never learned how to relax so after eating restaurant food working out of town for years he had a heart attack 2 years ago. I quit my business because of that and moved back to be near him. Talk about taking the
protestant work ethic to the extreme. Unfortunately his brain is caught in a loop. He cannot shut it off. He twitches like a guy with some kind of Parkinson disease. I respect and admire him but he is:
INSANE!!!

He will live a long time though!!
Your dad sounds typical of people his age.
My grandpa is the same way. Though he is crippled, he tries to do things, and before he was totally disabled, he worked all of the time despite having an illness that breaks his muscles every time he uses them. They don't get stronger; they deteriorate. He was basically making his condition worse and now he can barely walk.
I have a lot of energy, so I end up doing a lot too, but I'm not the smartest, so I never run anything. I wish the other average people would leave me alone. I don't think I have good work ethic; I'm just hyperactive.
@ShimmerBodyCream - yeah, our generation is going to die of laziness. So many have diabetes from being overweight and not moving, and they have heart problems too.
my dads 73 and he stills goes on roller coasters and other shit like that :P
@deanwrightson44324 - I think that is cool. good for him
@Colorsofthenight - Yes simple exercise can prevent those things.
@deanwrightson44324 - That's what I wanna do at 73 :)
@TalibNadoo - Thanks :)
Sounds like he either doesn't wanna slow down and be 'old' aka his age or he's in a rut, and needs to find a hobby that keeps him busy 12-14 hours a day that is NOT chopping wood in the sun, or working !
Keep us posted what happens !!!!@Want2FitIn2Fat2Fit - Yes both absolutely! I will keep you posted but he will just work until he dies.
@LadyboyRevolution - I have a friend who's Grandpa is 92 and is,like, rich and retired and everything, but still works outside everyday. I guess they get so used to it they they don't know what else to do.
Also, he thinks he is a grandma. It was quite a shock, the first time I met him...standing outside lopping limbs off a cedar...in a dress and sandals and pink lipstick....Nothing against him -I like that he is not afraid to be who he wants to be- but it was breezy that day....=)HAGD!@Want2FitIn2Fat2Fit - Wowzers that is either crazy or funny not sure which. Well if he is 92 he get's a pass :)
@LadyboyRevolution - I think it qualifies as both crazy and funny...Just wish he'd wear at least a SLIP next time....*shudders*
@Want2FitIn2Fat2Fit - LOL.
